On the 11th of March 2015, an Extension lecture Programme on “Business Excellence from financial Intelligence – some experiments” was organised by Research & Publication Cell, Department of Commerce in the college NCR from 3:30 p.m. The session was conducted by Professor Arup Choudhuri, founder president of Acasia Consulting.
The two-hours session was graced by Prof. (Dr.) Suchandra Chakravarty, (Vice Principal, Department of Arts) and a galaxy of other faculty members of both Under Graduation and Post Graduation courses.
The programme started with Prof.Lalit Kumarr Joshi Convenor, welcoming and introducing Prof. Arup Choudhuri to the packed up audience at the NCR. The session was inaugurated with the Vice Principal facilitating Prof. Arup Choudhuri.
The lecture was started with a briefing about the basics of finance. Discussions were made on different scams both at the national as well as of the Global scale, and their relevance with finance. Along with the major loopholes, the values of finance were also discussed.
Detailed lectures were given on various sectors of corporate world and their excellent management of finance; which led them to the great heights. Management of sales in garment industry like Big Bazaar to management of working capital in ITC, to assembling and export practices followed by top notch automobile companies – students and teachers were enlightened regarding all. Various issues viz. P.L.Tondon’s Theory and Chore’ Committee were also discussed.
Prof. Arup Choudhuri concluded by sharing his own experiences at work, which is an immensely inspiring success story in itself. The most precious output of this interactive session was to boost up the spirit of having the open mind of entrepreneurship and stressing on the students to come up with bright new innovative ideas which has the power to change at a macro stage.
It was a very progressive and helpful session and we look forward to lots of such sessions like this in the near future.
