A team of Quiz Masters from Derek O’Brien and Associates had come down to the Bhawanipur Education Society College (BESC) on August 26th 2017, to conduct a quizzing session of 5 rounds of 8 questions each. On a higher plane, their mission was to foster the love for quizzing in the campus and make the already popular activity gain firm footing among the students.
Andrew Scolt, Vice – President of Derek O’Brien and Associates, explained about the rich legacy of Kolkata as the Quiz capital of the country and urged the students to immerse themselves in the rapid fire world – which not only is an extremely pleasurable occupation, but also goes a long way in empowering the pilgrims with knowledge. “There is nothing trivial about trivia” he said.
55 quizzards from BESC were in attendance and between the rounds, the quiz master had few interactive sessions with the audience and gave away prizes to the ones giving the right answers. The winners got certificates. Basudeb Moulik and Supritam Datta; Shreyansh Goyal and Aliasgar Ayaz and Aman Shah and Shayon Sen emerged triumphant.
The visiting quiz masters were extremely happy to note the general enthusiasm of the audience and the very high level of competence of the participants. As is their practise, they started at the base with general questions as if to test the waters and progressively moved up as the questions asked became tougher and more specific. The way the participants were able to meet their pace and came up with the right answers was what pleased them no and they were candid in expressing their desire to hold more such interactions and events in BESC.
The credit of organising the event, down to the last tie-breaking question goes to Pooja Manot and her team from the Quizzards collective of the BESC.This report has been filed by Sakshi Shaw with cameraperson Mayank Giria of the Expressions collective of BESC.
