The Department of English organized a PG Students’ Seminar on laughter and literature (From Jest to Depth: The Literary Tapestry of Laughter). The event was held on 11th May, 2024, at the Concept Hall (6th floor) and was attended by undergraduate and postgraduate students of the Department of English.
Ten students of PG semesters II and IV presented papers at the seminar, and their presentations were assessed by three in-house judges. Four students won prizes, and all participants received certificates at the end of the event. The seminar continued from 10.30 am to 4 pm.
PG students’ seminar is a monthly endeavour by the Department of English to promote critical thinking amongst postgraduate students, and help them grow as scholars. The seminar on laughter and literature was intended to enable students to study and appreciate laughter as a literary artifact and a critical tool, and also to become more aware of the humourous aspect of life and literature.
