“Be the change you wish to see in the world.” Mahatma Gandhi
The youth are the ones capable to bring about the required change. With this great quote by Mahatma Gandhi, NSS Induction of this year started on 5th August,2019 from 11 am to 12:30 pm. The Placement Hall was packed with 70 odd students, volunteers who were ecstatic to be a part of this wonderful community of dedicated social workers. The programme began with a speech by Dr Divyesh Shah, the H.O.D of morning B.Com department and the lambent spirit behind the enthusiasm he has been driving the students with to opt for this collective.
Dr Divyesh Shah began by explaining that National Service Scheme is an Indian Government sponsored public service programme conducted by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports of the Government of India. NSS is a voluntary association of young students from colleges and universities who work with all their mindset to extend their support to the needy, the underprivileged and the backward ones. Bhawanipur Education Society College has been operating this self-financed unit since 2014 and Professor Shah elaborately explained to the keen students what is actually done in NSS Collective and the future workshops they are planning to take up. The fresh batch of students listened to him with rapt attention and the tranquillity in the ambience in the Placement hall was a proof that more such workers are coming forward to contribute their energy to the society.
Our Dean of Student Affairs, Professor Dilip Shah was welcomed by NSS Programme Officer, Dr Divyesh Shah and asked to infer the students about his apprehensions regarding the programme. With his usual benign smile he greeted the students for showing interest in this collective and also spoke about the events that NSS unit has been arranging for the last few years. He concluded his speech and drew the curtain down by addressing the students to openly contribute their service for the social cause as they are the future of this nation.
