A Factory visit was organized to Skipper Limited, manufacturers of PVC Pipes by the youth wing of Yi Kolkata Chapter for Yi Bhawanipur Chaupal. A group of 30 Yi Bhawanipur Chaupal students were accompanied by Prof. Kaushik Banerjee and Prof. Divyesh Shah for the visit to Skipper’s, Uluberia.
The company is one of the leading manufacturers and suppliers of Towers (telecom and transmission), PVC, GI, and SWR Pipes & Fittings in Kolkata. Skipper’s market reach spans the length and breadth of the country with products being supplied all the way up to West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Sikkim and North East India. They have a massive dealer network of over 350 dealers across Eastern India making Skipper one of most well recognized brands in this region.
Being a flagship company of the SK Bansal Group in Kolkata India, they have managed to maintain an excellent relationship with some of the most reputed companies of similar and other industries too. The global presence spans across South America, Europe, Africa, Middle East, south and south East Asia and Australia.

The factory is spread around 70 acres area and with around 2000 employees (permanent and contractual). As a part of CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) , Skippers provides residential accommodation to around 1200 staffs coming from rural areas. Along with food arrangements at a subsidized rate for its employees. They are also keen to offer medical facilities to employees to ensure better health. Skipper’s Mantra is to deliver value and commitment rather than only products and profits.
Students received a warm welcome by the management and staff members of Skipper Limited. During the visit, students were informed about the history of Skipper’s as to how it started in the year 1981 by Mr. S.K.Bansal and boom in 2004. Students were introduced to the managing committee members and were taken through a video and presentation of the company. Later students were briefed about the makings of PVC pipes and were made aware about the safety precautions. Students were divided into three groups and were taken on field visit across the factory and were briefed about different workings and technologies in detail.
Mr. Devesh Bansal (Director) for the organization held an interactive session with the students, answering to all their queries. Students were given refreshments and goody bag by the company. Students were overwhelmed by the hospitality and arrangements made at Skipper’s. And look forward to more such interesting visits by Yi Yuva.
