The completion of a journey begins by taking steps in the right direction. As The Bhawanipur Education Society College ticks off successful events one after the other, it reaches one of its highly awaited ceremony of Convocation. The BESC Graduation Felicitation Ceremony is dedicated to acknowledging its first-class graduating and post-graduating students and bidding farewell to them as they embark on a new journey moving forward in their lives. Students from the class of 2023 were invited to be a part of this occasion while adorning their graduate hats and academic regalia, to receive their diplomas from departmental heads. The proceedings were carried out over 2 days, the 9th & 10th of April 2024, in the Jubilee and Concept Halls of the college campus simultaneously.
The ceremony handed out certificates in 11 slots to over 2,000 students; all from different disciplines of B.Com, B.A., B.B.A, B.SC, M.Com, and M.A. respectively. The gracious presence of 7 Chief Guests was another reason for joy, with notable persons such as Mr. Ankur Chaturvedi, Vice President of Emami Operations; CA Vikas Gangwal, Global head for finance and supply chain advisory in BSFI Enterprises at the Tata Consultancy Services; Dr. Ajay Pathak, Director of the ICFAI Business School; Dr. Prof. Prashant Mishra, Professor of Marketing, IIMC. Former Dean, IR and ER, IIM Calcutta; CA Sanjib Sanghi, Chairman of the Eastern India Chartered Accountants Students Association of EIRC of ICAI; Dr. R K Johri, Retired Inspector General of Police (IGP); and CA Amar Agarwalla, Author, Author, Poet, Ghostwriter & Motivational Speaker, Trainer and Mentor, who added prestige to the event with their inspiring presence.
Also gracing the occasion were members from the management, Mr. Rajnikant Dani, Mr. Pradip Sheth, Mr. Jogesh Shah, Mrs. Renuka Bhatt, Mr. Bulbul Shah, Mr. Jitendra Shah, Mr. Umesh Thakker. From the administrative heads we had Dr. Subhabrata Gangopadhyay, Dr. Suman K Mukerjee, Prof. Dilip Shah, Dr. Sameer Banerjee, Dr. Pinki Saha, Dr. Tridib Sengupta, Dr. Samir Kanti Datta, Prof. Saspo Chakaborty, Prof . Minakshi Chaturvedi, Prof. Debjani Ganguly, Prof. Ananyya Banerjee, Prof. Paramita Chakravarty, Prof. Sayan Roy along with faculty members were there to felicitate the students. The dance teams representing Bollywood, Classical, and Western genres within the Flames Collective of BESC lit up the stage with their performances, entertaining the audience over the two days.
The proceedings began with an opening address by Prof. Dilip Shah, highlighting the significance of the occasion and the accomplishments of the graduating students. Prof. Shah’s words of wisdom resonated with the audience as he urged the graduates to uphold the values of their alma mater and contribute positively to society.
Following the address, the students took a solemn oath administered by the head of their respective departments, pledging to, “I pledge to use my knowledge, experience, and skill to the best of my ability and for the well-being of humanity. I will conduct myself responsibly and shall respect the rights and opinions and dignity of all. I will be a loyal ambassador for my alumna matters and will seek to maintain and enhance its reputation in all my dealings. I will endeavour to be known as a person of honour and will repute ever seeking to earn the piece of good conscience”.
The occasion included a special recognition segment for outstanding achievements. Khadijah Ahmed, an alumna from B.Sc. (Hons) Computer Science, was felicitated with a laptop for securing the first rank in the University of Calcutta. Her remarkable accomplishment exemplifies the dedication and academic excellence fostered by The Bhawanipur College.
Soon after, the graduating students came clad in Graduation robes one after the other and were felicitated with a medal, a scroll, and a congratulatory handshake, which was followed by a smile and a picture with our Chief Guests. At the end of the ceremony, Prof. Dilip Shah said that their relationship with the college will always remain as, “Once a Be- ites always a Be- ite .” Once everyone was felicitated the most awaited part of the ceremony came, as the students were asked to toss their hats on the third “hip, hip” and here’s how it went: “Hip, hip,….Hurray !”
Hats were seen flying overhead representing the proud, happy, deserving graduates and Postgraduates from The Bhawanipur Education Society College, Class of 2022. Flaunting their degrees in hand and with lighted-up faces they walked out of the campus & it was indeed a sight to behold!
The event concluded with radiant faces and bittersweet memories, as students reflected on their time at The Bhawanipur Education Society College. Here’s to celebrating their achievements and wishing them continued success in all their future endeavours!
