“Self-defence is not just a set of techniques; it is a state of mind, and it begins with the belief that you are worth defending.”
– Rorion Gracie
With the intention of equipping individuals with fundamental self-defence techniques to face any sort of threat in life, The Bhawanipur Education Society College introduced the fourth edition of Combat Training, empowering kick-boxers and combat sports enthusiasts. The Bhawanipur Education Society College held its Combat Training 4.0 workshop, with the tagline “Elevate The Fight Game, Advanced Techniques,” a two-day event on 16th and 17th August 2025, at the college turf from 8:00 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. on both days.
The prime focus of the workshop was to upskill the students in learning self-defence techniques to tackle real-life situations, teaching basic kickboxing skills to protect themselves, and to understand how to pursue kickboxing as a career. The workshop was conducted by professional kickboxing coach Mr. Ashutosh Kumar Jha, who is also an alumnus of BESC. He has had a successful kickboxing career with 16 years of experience. His passion in this field has helped many college students succeed in kickboxing at the national level.
The first day of the workshop focused more on training techniques, exercises, and getting to know and experience kickboxing closely. It started with a warm-up, followed by learning basic punches like the jab, cross, and other strategies and methods. The coach taught the basics of footwork and different kickboxing styles. The day ended with strength and power training. The second day was more of a revision of Day 1, followed by the application of the techniques in real-life matches. The day again began with a warm-up and revision of techniques. Combination training was introduced, where students learned how to use different techniques in various situations and combat scenarios. The final activity of the event paired students for sparring sessions, where they applied the techniques in simulated real matches.
The Rector and Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Dilip Shah, supervised the workshop and clicked a group photograph with the team as a memento. The event was a great success, where the young athletes learned a lot about kickboxing and self-defence, with many students inspired to pursue kickboxing further.
