The famous Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar once said “Enjoy the game and chase your dreams, dreams do come true.” His success story remains an inspiration for many Indians who aspire and strive to achieve more in life. In its May event roster, The Bhawanipur Education Society College organized the intra-college, Bhawanipur Premiere League Tournament from the 24th of May till the 5th of June 2023, on the college Turf. The tournament comprised of 90 teams consisting of 7 players in each team. It was a mandate that a female player should be included in each team. Each match in the tournament was spanned across 20 minutes with 6 overs being played. There were 7 rounds, and the 7th round was the final round.
The first two days of preliminary rounds on the 24th and 25th saw heavy footfall, where 23 and 22 matches were played, respectively. The tournament began at 7:30 am and ended at 6 p.m. The teams would step onto the Turf with high hopes and give their all to emerge victorious. The crowd that gathered around the Turf was immersed in the experience as they cheered on for the teams that were playing. As the target was set after the first innings in each match, all teams would strive to win. As the days passing by, the 90 teams with which the tournament began came down to 3 teams. The semi-final was played out in the form of a “Tri-series match” that consisted of the 3 teams competing against each other and the first team to win twice would reach the finals.
The Finale match was held on June 5th where the 2 teams that entered the finals were, Team ‘Black Bullz’ and Team ‘Gully Cricketers’. In the end, the team that earned the victory was Team Black Bullz. Team ‘Gully Cricketers’ and Team ‘Raghuvanshi’ bagged the 1st and 2nd Runners up positions respectively. All the teams were awarded the medals by Prof. Dilip Shah. Rupesh Gandhi and Mr. Bhawin Parmar also took part in the felicitation ceremony along with the volunteers of BPLT.
It was a spectacle to watch the sportsmanship of young players at the peak of summer. The winning team celebrated with a lot of enthusiasm as their hard work bore fruit. In the end, a vote of thanks was dedicated by Prof. Dilip Shah, to all the volunteers of BPLT who made this tournament a grand success and to the participating teams who displayed enthusiasm and put in their best efforts.
