Objective of the event: The objective of the programme was to create awareness among students about environmental conservation and to help them understand the historical and ecological significance of the Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose Indian Botanic Garden.
Brief description of the event: The Department of History, in collaboration with the Environmental Development Committee of The Bhawanipur Education Society College, organized an educational visit on 9 March 2026 as part of an extension programme on environmental awareness. During the visit, the historical importance, ecological value, and continuing environmental relevance of the Botanic Garden were explained to the students by Dr. Mithu Biswas. Through her insightful explanation, students gained a deeper understanding of the role of botanical institutions in preserving biodiversity and promoting environmental education.
Students of Semester I and Semester III actively participated in the programme. The visit helped them observe various plant species and understand the significance of ecological conservation in an experiential learning setting. Uttiya Chattopadhyay represented the Environmental Development Committee during the programme
Outcome of the event: The visit helped students develop a greater awareness of environmental conservation and biodiversity. It also provided them with a practical learning experience outside the classroom, encouraging them to appreciate the ecological and historical importance of botanical gardens.
