In today’s digital age, the internet has become an integral part of our lives but while it offers numerous benefits, it also brings with it a dark side known as “Cyber Crime,” the dark underbelly of the digital world. To safeguard the young generation and to enlighten the youth about the secrets of cyber security, BESC organized the session in collaboration with Indian Oil Corporation Ltd, Fever FM, and Radio Nasha. The session began with Prof. Minakshi Chaturvedi, Co-ordinator of B.Com Morning Department felicitating Mr. Rajib Sarkar, General Manager at Indian Oil Corporation Ltd, and Dr. Shantanu Saha, Deputy General Manager, Security of Police. Prof. Minakshi Chaturvedi, was also presented with a participation certificate from the Indian Oil Corporation.
The Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) General Manager, Mr Rajib Sarkar shared how cyber crime happens, how multi-layering transactions take place which are difficult to trace, where even if the criminals are traced it is almost impossible to get back the money. In the words of Mr. Sarkar, eradicating corruption might be a difficult task, but we can definitely reduce it. Lastly, he asked the students to always listen to their conscience and be sincere and honorable citizens of the country. Followed by Mr. Sarkar, Prof. Chaturvedi spoke about how this cyber crime is constantly on the rise and how important it is to be aware of the dark side of digital media. Dr. Shantanu Saha shared the secrets of cyber security and he suggested that we not share personal information over phone calls in public places. According to him, we should not allow anybody to use our phones. Mrs. Saha ended his speech by stating that the youth must not forget their ethics and always build their personality based on honesty, sincerity, and integrity. Lastly, RJ Dev from 94.3 FM Radio Nasha shared a few words.
The last segment of the seminar had two Acts performed by the Enact collective on cyber security. The first act was performed by Team Aarohan of BESC and the second Act was performed by Team Antarjaal of BESC, where performances were captivating but since only one team could be the winner, officials declared Team Antarjaal as the winning team and were awarded free passes for the theater festival on 23rd March which is organized by Radio Nasha and their parent channel Fever FM. The event ended with the officials handing over the prizes to both teams for putting up great performances.
