The Bhawanipur Education Society College organized a session on ‘Career Prospects in Civil Service’ held on 22nd May, 2023, from 11:00 am onwards at the Society Hall of the college. The event started with an opening speech by Prof. Dilip Shah, the Dean of Student Affairs, who optimistically discussed the changing trend of more people enrolling themselves in the UPSC examination, especially in the Eastern India region. Then the speaker, Mr. Vivek Drolia was felicitated by Prof. Shah. Mr. Drolia who is an alumnus of The Bhawanipur College is a qualified CA and CS and has also cleared UPSC, presently the Deputy Secretary, Department of Telecommunication, Government of India.
In his speech, Mr. Drolia had an amusingly simplified approach to address the audience. According to him, there must be a fire in the belly to achieve anything in life be it qualifying for UPSC or any other career option. Then he explicitly discussed his own daunting academic life and how he still achieved his goals as he was truly passionate about them. Secondly, the speaker emphasized having priorities so that there is clarity, which would help in optimizing time. Thirdly and most importantly, he suggested that one should invest more time in oneself by meditating, reading books, etc. as these activities are the building blocks of our personality.
After the speech, there were rounds of questions, where the speaker gave befitting answers to the students who were aspiring to crack UPSC. Lastly, Mr. Drolia told the audience about 1-on-1 counseling sessions that could address the gray areas related to career. The Bhawanipur College also organizes free preliminary Counseling Sessions, weekly in its Library.
This event successfully replenished the minds of the attendees through the knowledge and personal experience shared by the honorable speaker. Lastly, the event ended with a vote of thanks to the college authorities for organizing such events in the college.
