The Women’s Cell of the College observed Women’s day on 20.3.23. Smt. Nupur Sanyal , founder of Institute of Social Work , Kolkata was invited to share her experiences in a programme entitled ‘ Empowering women: Through the lens of an activist’
Smt. Sanyal has spent almost five decades in the field of social work. Her focus has been the empowerment of women and the welfare of children. She has worked in almost all the districts of West Bengal. The focus of her organization has been to support the cause of economic empowerment of women by providing them with financial support wherever possible. The organization has also worked to educate the street children. She shared the impediments in the path of empowerment of women. She mentioned the role of patriarchy in shaping the mindset of the society. She invited the students to visit her organization and even work with it as interns. Last but not the least she suggested that each one of us contributed whatever little to the cause of welfare of women or marginalized children of the society.
