Enact, the theatre collective of the Bhawanipur Education Society College needs no introduction – either in the college or among the discerning lovers of dramatics in the city. The collective not only wins the accolades and stage spaces they occupy, but also the hearts of the audience with their well scripted and excellently portrayed pieces – be that a street corner play, or a special presentation crafted for college fests.
Thus, when Enact declared their desire to stage their latest production the hall was filled to capacity with a crowd waiting eagerly to witness high drama (no pun intended)! The members of Enact did not disappoint the audience.
The story was perfectly chosen as it had mystery, murder, unrequited love, investigation and all that is generally the staple for drama that is gripping but stops just short of being loud. And coming from the Enact team, who have mustered all the aspects staging a play as near perfectly as possible, that the production would be sleek, the dialogue delivery powerful, the acting expressive and the suspense palpable till the last gripping scene was obvious. Fact is, they outdid themselves, which was borne by the standing ovation that the audience showered on the team after the completion of the play.
Arghya Banerjee and Apratin, ex students of BESC who were once synonymous with Team Enact were specially invited by the College and were felicitated by Prof Dilip Shah, the Dean of Student Affairs of BESC.
The Theatre is one of the most powerful mediums of expression with Kolkata having been one of the most revered of centres for the growth, development and continued well being of the art form, Prof Shah reminded the audience, expressing his happiness that the younger generation is living up to the glorious theatrical traditions of the city and are staging such magnificent pieces.
