Fresh as opposed to tinned. Fresh as opposed to stale. Fresh as opposed to the wrinkled, the decaying. Fresh as in a newcomer, as in a fresher, a newbie.
And what good is a fresher if the fresh face is not appreciated; the talents that the breaths of pure, fresh air blows in, celebrated? Crisp, firm, unwilted, the Bhawanipr Education Society College (BESC) paid tribute to the faces that are destined rule the campus and the world. The event: the Calcutta Times, Oppo Fresh face ’17. The Date: June 6th, 2017. The venue: “Don’t act fresh, there is only one campus for events like these, BESC”!
Take a hundred and ten participants putting their best face forward. Add a college load of talents ranging from the predictable – Singing, Dancing, Acting, Mimicking, to the exotic – playing the Violin, strumming the Santoor. Put the contestants through exacting rounds of intense competition. Add an appreciative crowd working itself to a frenzy. Put in a few hardnosed reporters and a glam queen (model Tina Mukherjee) as the judges. That was what the whole fashion fiesta was all about, to cut a long story of scorched ramps, dashed dreams and crowning glories short, that is.
The 1st runners – up were Saurav Ganguly and Shravan Aich in male category and Shrishti Das Gupta and Yukta Juneja in the female category. The 2nd runners -up were Akash Chaudhury and Sagnik Mondol from the male category and Sophia Twinkle Akhtar and Ayshi Mukherjee from the female category. Sneha Singh, Rishika Nag, Russian Bose and Avinash Agarwal emerged as the ultimate winners.
The entire credit of organising such a high voltage event goes to the collective Fashionista and its coordinators – Koyel Guha and Sulagna Ghosh have earned a round of applause – the standing ovation that is reserved for the ultimate winner.
This report has been filed by Nikita Shah and Shakshi Shaw, with camerapersons Mayank Giria, Vishal Jain, Rajarshi Das and Arnab Paulof the Expressions collective of BESC.
