Amidst the hullabaloo of selection exams, Bhawanipur Education Society College in association with Lions Club International hosted the most awaited event of this month, “Seven summits women team.” This is a team of brave women, who have scaled all the top peaks of all the continents, including Mt. Everest and Antarctica.
The event started with a welcome address by Mamata Binani, Programme coordinator. Distinguished guests spoke on the topic “Where the mind is without fear.” The most inspiring speech was by our Prof. Dilip Shah, Dean of student’s affairs, Bhawanipur College.
The real excitement started when the team of seven summits women team entered the auditorium. After the felicitation ceremony, Ms. Shaille Basnet, started with an inspirational power point presentation… With her little knowledge of Bengali, she sang two lines of “Alka cholo re” and the packed auditorium gave her thunderous applause. She introduced her members, one of them had Learning difficulties during childhood, and other belongs to child trafficking village. She started from challenges of rock climbing to funding of 2000 dollars per person. From Russia to South America, from Everest to Antarctica, from a remote village in Nepal to White House, they have braved it all.
At the end of the day, one would realize, if someone is determined, then no one can stop them.
The program ended with the vote of thanks by a fellow student of our college. Lastly, everyone joined in singing of National Anthem and parted.
