Umang 2014 hosted the event ‘Bollywood and Cricket quiz’ which was judged by Mr. Kaushik Banerjee. The event hosted by Nikunj Kothari was held in Room no. 27. It started at around 10:30 am and continued for the next half an hour.
Though much did not happen in the room but some of the questions were quite interesting, some being – “What was the name of Auro’s disease in Paa?” and “Who was the first player to score a one day international century?” There were twenty-three colleges participating and each team had two members. The results were announced on the spot and six teams qualified to the finals. There was a buzzer round among six teams. The judge was Mr. Rajib Sanyal. The finale was a really interesting session. Manikuntala Das and Md Affanul Haque from Asutosh College gave a remarkable performance. The winners of the event were (pending).

The topic of debate was ‘Struggle is not necessary for success’. The time allotted to each speaker was three minutes and an additional one minute.
As an initiative towards capacity building and skill enhancement among students, the Department of Education organized a workshop on ‘Developing Effective Communication Skills and on Writing a Perfect Resume’ for the students of Semesters 2 and 4 on April 25, 2023, in the second-floor auditorium. On 20th October 2016, BESC organised an industrial visit to Skipper Limited, leading manufacturers of PVC pipes. About 40 students of Commerce Plus and YI along with Prof. Vijay Kothari visited the manufacturing unit at Uluberia.
