The Students’ Activities Committee (Afternoon and Section) of the Department of Commerce (Afternoon and Evening Section) organized a Two-Day Workshop on Research Paper Writing on May 30th and 31st, 2024. The workshop aimed to provide participants with fundamental knowledge and practical skills in the field of research paper writing. The workshop was divided into two days, each held at different times catering to different sections. Day 1 took place for in room No. 125, for the Afternoon Section starting at 3:30 p.m., while Day 2 was conducted for the Evening Section, starting at 5.00 p.m.
On Day 1, the workshop commenced with a gracious welcome address by Ms. Arundhati Mazumder, setting a vibrant tone for the sessions ahead. The opening address was delivered by Prof Paramita Chakravarty, Department of Commerce (Afternoon & Evening Section) Associate Professor and Coordinator of Department of Commerce (PG) M.Com. Ms. Arundhati Mazumder then introduced Dr. Meghdoot Ghosh, underscoring his profound knowledge and extensive experience in research. The event was further enriched as Dr. Meghdoot Ghosh was felicitated by Prof. Sayan Roy, Coordinator of the Department of Commerce (Afternoon and Evening Section), marking a significant moment of acknowledgment and appreciation.
Dr. Meghdoot Ghosh, a faculty member of the Department of Commerce (Afternoon and Evening Section), illuminated participants on the primary objective of writing a research paper and delved into its fundamental structure, exploring elements such as the Title, Abstract, Literature Review, Introduction, and References, among others. The research focused software Scispace was also introduced and taught to the participants to enhance their skills in data analysis and visualization.
In the second session, participants received hands-on training in using Excel for data analysis, followed by instruction on framing and testing hypotheses. Additionally, participants gained comprehensive knowledge of referencing techniques in both APA and MLA formats.
At the end of Day 2, the workshop concluded with Mr. Debdutta Sen delivering the vote of thanks, expressing appreciation for the organizing committee, participants, and everyone involved in making the workshop a success. The Two-Day Workshop on Research Paper Writing served as a platform for students to refine their paper writing abilities, nurturing a deeper comprehension of research papers.
The workshop received an attendance of 31 students on Day 1 and 25 students on Day 2. The presence of 15 faculty members added valuable insights and expertise to the workshop sessions. Participants were provided with a feedback form and were encouraged to complete and submit them to facilitate the issuance of certificates.
The students of The Bhawanipur Education Society College attended a seminar on Cyber Crime organized by the Bhawanipur Prayas Sports & Cultural Society along with Kolkata Police. The students were accompanied by Prof. Vijay Kothari as they went to visit the Bhawanipur Utsab at D.N Mitra Square on 6th February 2015.
