“Give me blood, and I will give you freedom” – Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose
Seventy-six years ago, on 26th January 1950, the Constitution of independent India came into force. This historic day marked the birth of the Indian Republic and the installation of its first President, Dr. Rajendra Prasad. To honour the legacy of our freedom fighters and to ignite the spirit of patriotism among the youth, The Bhawanipur Education Society College celebrated Republic Day on 26th January 2026 on the college turf, upholding the significance of the occasion and continuing its cherished traditions.
With the management, faculty, and over 200 students dressed in vibrant ethnic attire, the celebration commenced at 9:00 a.m. with an opening address by the college anchors. The event formally began with the unfurling of the National Flag by members of the management—President Shri Rajnikant Dani, Shri Jitendra Shah, Smt. Nalini Parekh, and Smt. Renuka Bhat—along with faculty members and students. As a tribute to the nation, the National Anthem was sung collectively by everyone present.
This was followed by a parade performed by the NCC cadets of the college and the students of Bhawanipur Gujarati Education Society School (ISC). Shortly after the parade, an inspiring Republic Day address was delivered by the President, Shri Rajnikant Dani. In his speech, he reminded the audience that Republic Day is not merely about a flag, a parade, or a holiday—it is about choice and responsibility. He emphasised that small habits build a strong nation and that India needs aware, honest, and responsible young minds. Addressing the students, he highlighted that they are not just the future of the country, but its present strength.
Aligned with the theme Desh ki Veerangana, the students of the Enact Collective presented a compelling performance celebrating the courage and contributions of India’s women warriors. The enactment portrayed five iconic figures—Bhikaiji Cama, Matangini Hazra, Sarojini Naidu, Vijayalakshmi Pandit, and Savitribai Phule—bringing to life their resilience, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to the nation. Through powerful narration and expressive performances, the presentation paid tribute to the indomitable spirit of Indian womanhood and left the audience deeply moved and inspired.
Following this impactful performance, the talented students of Bhawanipur Gujarati Education Society School (ICSE) presented a melodious and harmonious musical rendition that left the audience humming the tunes long after it concluded.
Adding an interactive element to the programme, Prof. Minakshi Chaturvedi engaged the audience with a quiz, awarding small prizes for every correct answer. This was followed by an energetic and captivating dance performance by the students of Bhawanipur Gujarati Education Society School (ISC), which not only delighted the audience but also reaffirmed that the nation’s future rests in capable hands.
Thereafter, the NCC students showcased a handmade model of the warship INS Imphal, symbolising strength, discipline, and the seamless blend of creativity and commitment. The students of Bhawanipur Gujarati Education Society School then enacted the struggles of our freedom fighters, followed by yet another vibrant dance performance by the students of the Bhawanipur Designing Academy.
Towards the conclusion of the programme, a rank promotion ceremony for NCC cadets was held in the presence of Commander Mrinmoy Ghosh, Commanding Officer of the Bengal Naval Unit, Kolkata C Group Headquarters. The college congratulated the deserving NCC students on their well-earned promotions.
The 77th Republic Day celebration concluded with the announcement of special Best Dressed Awards. To bring the event to a graceful close, Prof. Dilip Shah delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all the esteemed guests, participants, and students present on campus.
