Dhara Gujjar, a student of B.Com (Hons) Semester-I of The Bhawanipur Education Society College was felicitated on being selected to the Mumbai Indians Women Squad at the Women Premier League (WPL) 2023 first auction for INR 10 Lakh. Dhara, who started playing cricket at age of 11 is a Senior Bengal Player and was the Vice Captain of the Bengal team. In 2017 she debuted for the Bengal U19 team and also went on to become the Captain. In 2018-19 she was part of the Bengal U19 team which became the champion of the women’s U19 one-day tournament.
She holds several accolades to her credit, of which she came under the Senior team in the year 2019 and was the 4th highest run-getter in the senior women’s one-day tournament 2021-22. She represented the East zone team in the One zonal match in Hyderabad and this year she has been picked by the IPL Mumbai Indians team.
Celebrating her incredible achievement, the college awarded her with a memento for her recent selection to the IPL team in the presence of all the dignitaries. Including members from the management Mr. Jitu Shah, Mr. Umesh Thakkar, the Teacher-in-Charge Dr. Subhabrata Gangopadhyay, Dean of Student Affairs Prof. Dilip Shah, and the sports officers Mr. Bhavin Parmar & Mr. Rupesh Gandhi. While inviting her to the stage Prof. Dilip Shah called her selection, “Not an everyday news, as she paves way for all the women athletes to come to the forefront.”
