On 8th December 2022, The Bhawanipur Education Society College organised an event called The Pop Culture Quiz. The event commenced from 11 am onwards in the Society Hall of the college with 12 teams having 2 members each; competing for the top 6 positions. An audience of around 40 students gathered to watch this event take place. The event began with Alham Zain as our host; introducing us to Popular Culture via Video Representation.
The first round was on Bollywood and Films in general and also cinematography and content from various memes. By the end of this round, six teams were bid farewell as elimination took place. This was followed by no elimination rounds. The second round was upon Trends and memes. The third round was on Comics and had questions based on Marvel and DC comics mainly. The fourth round contained questions on Music; mainly classical, cultural and songs that won a Grammy award. The fifth round was on the topic of Literature which included various works from Shakespeare, Odyssey, and a whole lot more. The sixth and final round was again about Movies and TV Shows which consisted of various old and current shows; cinemas and the Oscars.
The team that secured the first position consisted of Jion Mallick and Rayyan Sarwar.
The second place was secured by the team consisting of Bhavna Jagnani and Somdutta Chakraborty.
The team that came in third place had Ananya Sarkar and Kirti Rai.
The score records were managed by volunteers Ambreen Hossain, Shakti Agarwal, and Tulika Dey with answers being managed by Sk Alham Zain and Hassan Ahmed Kamal while technical were managed by Gourav Chowdhury. To summarize it all, the event can be considered a huge success as it was enjoyable yet informative also. It portrayed the kind of healthy competition which is desired and expected in any college and its events. The event ended with a vote of thanks to the quizmasters and volunteers and to the dean of student affairs, Professor Dilip Shah for making this dream come true.
