The Assembly of Nations 2024 conducted its Volunteering Induction on January 16th, 2024, at the Society Hall, from 10:15 am onwards. The event commenced with an engaging introduction by Abhishek Shaw, Deputy Secretary General, who provided a detailed overview of the AON conference. His presentation not only explained the concept of Model United Nations (MUN) but also highlighted the significance of this event among students.
He then delved into the specifics, throwing light on the structure of AON 2024, which includes an array of committees such as UNSC, UNGA SPECPOL, UNCSW, UNHRC, World Bank, Lok Sabha, International Press, and UNDPPA (Flagship Committee). These committees offer students a platform to discuss issues and propose solutions.
Abhishek Shaw outlined the various departments and roles available for volunteering, ranging from logistics and public relations to hospitality and marketing. He showcased the vital role of volunteers in ensuring the smooth functioning of AON 2024. The event drew a great turnout, with many students expressing enthusiastic interest in volunteering. This impressive show of participation was encouraging for AON 2024’s success.
What could have been a better way than celebrating Independence day with special ones. Thirty students along with professors Divyesh Shah and Vijay Kothari with our motto “NOT ME BUT YOU” the students endeavoured to carve a smile each on the faces of all the destitute children of The Refuge orphanage.
