Name of the activity: The Department of History conducted an Extension and Outreach Programme comprising of a tree plantation drive and a visit to the State Archaeological Museum with underprivileged children, supported by Sapgachi Humanity for You and Me.

Objective of the event: a. To make students play their parts in combatting the looming environmental crisis, the department in collaboration with the Environmental Committee organized a tree plantation drive at CRPF Camp, Kasba.
To inform students about the cultural traditions and historical antiquities of Bengal through paintings and popular folk traditions of Bengal
Brief Description of the event: The event started with a tree plantation drive conducted by students from the department of History. Following the plantation, students were taken to the State Archeological Museum that was sub divided into distinct galleries. The galleries traversed diverse facets of Bengal’s popular cultural traditions, ranging from paintings in Bengal, archaeological sites discovered in the recent past to popular metallic traditions of Bengal.
Exhibitions included a mobile exhibition that showcased a snapshot of Bengal’s history from Pre historic microlithic traditions of Bengal to Mauryan and Gupta numismatic traditions of Bengal.
Outcome of the event: The event organized was a success that resulted in a greater appreciation of richness of Bengal.
Conclusion: The event concluded with hopes of visiting places of archaeological sites as an essential site of Bengal’s heritage.
