The Department of Education organized an educational trip to Taki on May 26–27, 2023.
The main attraction of Taki is the Ichamati River. Students and faculty members embarked on a boat safari down the river. The area surrounding the river was under BSF surveillance. Therefore, our students were requested to maintain discipline and avoid getting into any reckless activities. The Ichamati River is a transboundary river that flows through India and Bangladesh. Students were amazed to find out that despite the geographical distance, both countries share the same river. We saw the Durga Visarjan Ghat and the famous Taki Rajbari, where Durga Puja is celebrated with full glory and grandeur every year. During the auspicious festival of Dussehra, people from both India and Bangladesh gather at the confluence to watch the Durga immersion ceremony. After a wonderful boat ride, students enjoyed some light snacks at the hotel and poured their hearts out in singing and dancing.
The next day (May 27, 2023), students and faculty members returned to Kolkata. This educational trip was expected to instill amongst our students a sense of cooperation and unity with our neighboring countries, despite bilateral tensions. The department is heartily grateful to the college for sponsoring the trip.
