The event was hosted by two students at the college, namely, Aarshi Roy Chowdhury and Abhirup Ghosh. The judge for the competition was Mr. Saurav Goswami, the music teacher at BESC and the main man behind the inception of the musical collective of the college ‘Crescendo’. The introductory speech was delivered by Aarshi Roy Chowdhury, who welcomed the participants and the faculty. The webinar could arguably be called one of its kind. Not organised as a strict contest, it was more like a token of respect to the Dean of the Student Affairs of the college – Prof. Dilip Shah – on his birthday on behalf of the entire college, for his love for music. Since the much-awaited Music Fest ‘Euphonious’ could not be organised this year because of the pandemic, so instead ‘Bandish’ was planned to celebrate Classical Music. A total of 30 students were auditioned a day ahead, out of which 7 students were selected to perform on the day of the main event. The event was brought to life, when songs as incredibly beautiful as ‘Sajan Bin’ and ‘Bhare Naina’ were sung by the participants with extraordinary smitten. While songs like ‘Humein Tumse Pyaar Kitna’ brought back the old musical era, recent hits like ‘Virah’ were also sung which set-up the mood for some new-age Indie Classical music. As such, various other exclusively dulcet and melodious songs were sung. A special performance was given by the musical genius -Mr. Saurav Goswami, which was mesmerising. Lastly, Mr. Goswami selected the top 3 best performers of the evening – Pritam Kumar Mistri, Madhuban Das and Ananya Majumder – which brought the marvellous evening to an end. A special vote of thanks was given by Mr. Saurav Goswami.
