“Style is a simple way of saying complicated things.”
As the youth populace expands its idea of creativity, the boundaries of style also reach new heights. To nurture the growing creative streak in its students, The Bhawanipur Education Society College came up with a 2-day fest called Aesthetica 2023, in its roster of events held in June. With its motto being “Where creativity and style take center stage.”, this one-of-a-kind intra-college fashion event aimed to provide students with a platform through which they could explore their creative potential and showcase their unique styles. Taking place in the Jubilee and Concept Hall on the 3rd and 4th of June, Aesthetica consisted of 4 individual events, namely Mr. and Ms. Aesthetica, Glam Up, Nail Art, and Runway Bash.
The fest began on 3rd June with the opening ceremony taking place in the Concept Hall at 11:30 A.M. The audience witnessed the official video of the Aesthetica event followed by a dazzling dance performance on hit Bollywood songs performed by the Flames collective. The ceremony ended with remarks from Mrs. Geraldine Russel Ray, who discussed the fest’s essence and idea. The opening ceremony was followed by the day’s first event, Mr. and Ms. Aesthetica. The pageant started at 12noon and the judges for the event, Mr. Md Shabbeer Baid, and Mr. Tanveer Baid were introduced. Mr. and Ms. Aesthetica consisted of three rounds, Round 1 where participants would walk the ramp before introducing themselves to the judges, Round 2 where the participants would showcase their individual unique talents such as singing, dancing, rapping, and hula hooping for the audience and the judges, Round 3 or the final round was the Q&A round where the judges would ask the participants questions regarding their strengths or weaknesses which would help them better to choose the winners. This event was an icebreaker for the 2-day fest as the audience immersed themselves in the entertainment. As the event came to an end at 3:00 P.M., the judges were felicitated, and the winners were declared. Bagging the 1st position as the winner for Mr. Aesthetica was Akshit Ray and the 1st position as the winner for Ms. Aesthetica was Riya Dhanuk. The 2nd place was won by Ronit Singh for Mr. Aesthetica and Jesika Kaur for Ms. Aethetica.
There were also two other events that took place on the first day of the fest: Nail Art and Glam Up. The two events entailed the participation of students with a unique and creative point of view. Taking place in the inner space, the participants put forward exquisite artistry on the faces and nails of their models. The winners were declared as the event started at 1:30 P.M. and ended at 2:30 P.M. The winner of the event Nail Art was Prachita Roy and the winner of the event Glam Up was Afshana.
Day 2 of the fest had the showstopper event up its sleeve. The Runway Bash was the cherry on the cake as students participated with much enthusiasm in their hearts. There were up to 3 slots of participants ready to walk the runway. The event started at 1:00 P.M. with the audience seated in the Jubilee Hall and participants queued up according to their slots. The event had 2 rounds, Round 1 dedicated to ethnic wear and Round 2 dedicated to western wear. Each participant was asked to first perform wearing Ethnic wear and then Western wear. They were asked to wait backstage and walk out as their names would be called upon. After all contestants in the slot had walked the runway, they would all move out for one final time and ‘skirt’ the runway to lively music. The event was a feast for the eyes as participants put forth their best through their clothes and their graceful movements, to the beat of popular soundtracks. Fashion was at its peak as everyone chose their outfits and coordinated them with accessories rightly. As all three slots finished performing, the participants waited eagerly for the results to be out. In the meantime, was a performance by the colleges’ very own team of the Fashionista Collective led by their mentor Geraldine Russel Ray. All cheered during their performance as they loved every second of it. As the event came to an end at 4:00 P.M., the results were declared. In the winning position were Jasmin Kaur and Ronit Singh, 1st Runners Up were Gurpreet Kaur and Armaan Yadav, and 2nd Runners Up were Ishika Sharma and Akshit Ray respectively.
All the winners who were felicitated by the Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Dilip Shah, were gleaming with joy and pride as their efforts bore fruit. The event concluded with Prof. Dilip Shah’s remarks, where he commented how the event was a hit and that the Collective had found new talent which it can use and help the family of Fashionista grow.
