Objective of the event: This field trip is indispensable for the purpose of semester 4 tutorial, which is an essential component of Calcutta University Examinations.The trip was organised to enable the students to have a comprehensive understanding of the life and works of Rabindranath Tagore.
Brief description of the event: On May 6, 2025, the Department of Political Science organized an enlightening educational trip to Jorasanko Thakurbari for Semester 4 students. A total of 24 students and 2 teachers participated in this trip. Students got to explore the sprawling mansion, which showcases a unique blend of Bengali and European architecture. The intricate designs, ornate balconies, and beautifully maintained gardens offered a glimpse into the rich history of the Tagore family. The trip provided students with valuable insights into the life and works of Rabindranath Tagore, India’s first Nobel laureate. They learned about his contributions to literature, music, politics and art, and how his experiences at Jorasanko Thakurbari influenced his creative pursuits.
Outcome of the event: The Department of Political Science successfully organized this educational trip, providing students with a memorable and enriching experience. The trip was a testament to the department’s commitment to providing students with holistic learning experiences that go beyond the classroom. Further, the trip enabled the students to write a field report which is a component of Calcutta University Examination.
On 8th July 2021, the students as well as the teachers of the Department of Education organised a cultural program. It was an online program which started at 12.15 noon.
