7.Objective of the event: The objective of the event was to explore global research trends in commerce and management by providing a platform for academicians to present their original and unpublished papers, fostering discussions and insights into specific sub-themes within the broader conference theme.
8. Brief description of the event:
The Department of Commerce PG & UG (Afternoon and Evening Section) organized a two-day international conference on “Exploring Global Research Trends in Commerce and Management” on June 21-22, 2024. The event attracted 152 participants, including faculty members, academicians, and students, and featured 52 published abstracts.
The conference began with an opening address by Dr. Joyeta Bhadury and a welcome address by Ms. Paramita Chakravarty, followed by the inaugural session with dignitaries like Dr. Subhabrata Ganguly and Prof. Dilip Shah lighting the lamp. The proceedings and the book “Studies in Financial Literacy” by the Department of Commerce (Afternoon and Evening Section) by the eminent academicians who had graced the occasion.
Keynote addresses were delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Amalendu Bhunia, Ms. Melinda Pavek, and Mr. Brandon Dorsey, focusing on the conference theme. The first plenary session featured talks by Prof. (Dr.) Debasish Sur who highlighted issues in commerce and management, and Dr. Santus Kumar Deb, Professor, Department of Tourism and Hospitality, University of Dhaka, who emphasized digital marketing. The session was chaired by Prof. (Dr.) Ratan Khasnabis, Advisor, School of Business, Sister Nivedita University, who spoke about increasing and facing challenges related to different technologies like machine learning and AI in the world and how to overcome them in order to sustain for the long run. Three parallel technical sessions covered various topics: management and contemporary issues chaired by Dr. Deb, finance and taxation chaired by Dr. Suvankar Chakraborty, and banking, insurance, and finance chaired by Prof. (Dr.) Bhunia.
Day two began with a second plenary session featuring Prof. (Dr.) Pradipta Banerjee on market sustainability and Prof. (Dr.) Goutam Bhowmik on water resource management, chaired by Prof. (Dr.) Siddhartha Sankar Saha, who highlighted on Business Research and Research Methodology. Additional paper presentations were held in three tracks: contemporary issues chaired by Dr. Palash Bandopadhyay, emerging issues chaired by Dr. Joyeta Bhadury, and finance chaired by Dr. Goutam Bhowmik.
The event concluded with a valedictory session addressed by Dr. Partha Karmakar, followed by an award ceremony recognizing six best papers. Ms. Paramita Chakravarty expressed gratitude and congratulated everyone, and the conference ended with a vote of thanks by Ms. Atreyee Ganguly. Feedback forms were shared with participants to receive their certificates.
