Brief Description: The Computer Science Dept of The Bhawanipur Education Society College had organised an educational trip to Darjeeling, the “Queen of Hills” from 2nd December, 2025 to 7th December, 2025. Contrary to the title of the trip, the students were taken not only to Darjeeling, but to Mirik and Sittong as well. The trip included 28 students from the first, third and fifth semesters along with 2 professors of the Computer Science Department, namely – Ms. Anamika Guha and Mr. Sanjib Halder. In accordance with the itinerary, the students had reported to the Sealdah Station on the night of 2nd December and had reached NJP the next morning. After a short pause to have a filling breakfast at a hillside restaurant, the entire morning and afternoon were filled with exciting sightseeing while en route to Darjeeling. The sights covered were Mirik Lake, Gopal Dhara tea garden, Simana viewpoint and Lepchajagat line forest. The sightseeing ended that day with checking in at Echo Hotel and Spa in Darjeeling. After a short rest, the students were surprised by a DJ night by the teachers, followed by dinner. On 4th December, the day started with a trek up Tiger Hill in order to witness the absolutely breathtaking view of the Kanchenjunga at sunrise. The scenic sight made everyone incapable of looking away. On the way back to the hotel, the students were taken to the Japanese Peace Pagoda. After breakfast back at the hotel, the students and teachers glammed up for a formal look and visited a tea factory in the Happy Valley, where the students were made familiar with the processes involved in the making of different varieties of tea. The entire tour of the factory was overly insightful and interesting. After a visit to the Ghoom Monastery and some sightseeing on the way, the students returned to the hotel and had the evening free to themselves. The next day began with breakfast followed by checking out from Echo Hotel. And now the group was headed to Sittong, on the route of which they paused at the Rhododendron Park and Jogi Ghat. With tired but happy faces and a few wet shoes by virtue of the joyful splashing at the Jogi Ghat, the group arrived at Tara Himalayan Retreat, which offered a great view of the Kanchenjunga from the very windows of the rooms. The evening was marked by perhaps the most awaited and the most memorable part of the trip, the bonfire paired with a scrumptious barbeque. Students and teachers alike, all immersed in the magic of the evening with a plethora of music, dance and mirth. The beautiful evening came to an end with the students delivering speeches on how their experience of the trip was. The 6th of December, the last day of the trip, began with checking out from Tara Homestay. The sights seen on this day were the Aahaldara view point, Namthing-Pokhari biodiversity heritage site and an orange garden in Sittong. Then finally the group left for NJP and boarded the Darjeeling Mail at night, reaching Kolkata on the morning of 7th December. The trip was a huge success with the help of Sanroy Holidays. More than the beautiful sights, the trip was about learning, absorbing and spending time with friends, juniors, seniors and teachers. With the constant guidance of the teachers, the students learned valuable lessons on teamwork, cooperation and the extraordinary simplicity of just being together with friends. The memories of the trip are sure to be fondly preserved in the hearts of both the teachers and the students.
Outcome: The tea factory visit was a highlight of the trip, leaving students with a deeper understanding of the craftsmanship and care behind every cup of tea. Beyond the educational aspect, the trip also helped foster teamwork and cooperation among the students. The breathtaking views, such as those from Tiger Hill and the Tara Himalayan Retreat, combined with the memorable moments like the bonfire and BBQ, made the trip unforgettable. On the final day, students reflected on the experience, expressing how much they had learned-not just about tea, but about the value of friendship, nature, and shared experiences. The entire trip was a major success, creating lasting memories and valuable lessons for all involved.
