To celebrate the beginning of “Debipokhho”, i.e., the arrival of the Goddess, and welcome the victory of good over evil, The Bhawanipur Education Society College celebrated the auspicious occasion of Sharodiya creating history in its books. On 3rd October, 2024 for the very first time, BESC witnessed an event called Sharodiya which experienced the best energies in terms of dance, music, poetry, and audio drama taking place in the Jubilee Hall of the college. The hall witnessed a surplus of audience excited enough to be a part of the very first edition of Sharodiya.
The event commenced at 11:30 A.M. onwards with Prof. Dilip Shah, Rector and Dean of Students’ Affairs lighting the lamp of wisdom and strength and inaugurating the event. What can be a better start than having the Durga Stotram as the first performance, as it filled the room with energy, making it devoid of negativity. As the event proceeded, the participants kept setting the stage on fire with their powerful performances inspired by the spirit of Goddess Durga. Music proved to be one of the most impactful ways to display energy while dance showcased strength. Poetry and Audio Play welcomed the beginning of Sharadotsav with rhythmic words and their beauty. A special performance by Crescendo’s representative, Sreyan Ray, and Expressions’ representative, Suchetan Bhadra, captivated the audience, adding an unforgettable highlight to the event. Their duo performance with the guitar kept the audience spellbound. One of the performances of ‘Shruti Natok’ or Audio play, presented a playful and funny conversation between Durga and Shiv, which proved to be a commendable performance of the day. On the other hand, poetry performed by one of the participants highlighted the irony between our worship of the Goddess Durga and at the same time, our society’s ill-treatment of its women. Also, one of the group dances rightfully showcased the power and divinity of Goddess Durga. The audience seemed to be keen enough to witness the beauty of Sharodiya which the college could host for the first time.
Sharodiya 2024 at BESC could not have a better ending than the auspicious sounds of Dhak and the students vibing on it with utmost energy and emotions. The moment went on to a different level when Prof. Shah also joined the celebrations with even greater energy than the students. With celebrations, dance, music and poetry, the event proved to be successful and ended at around 1:30 P.M.
