Life turns a full circle as with heavy hearts and teary eyes, we bid farewell to our graduating batch of 2024 while at the same time embracing the arrival of our freshers with open arms. The Orientation ceremony at The Bhawanipur Education Society College began on 2nd August 2024 at 10 A.M. with over 200 students in the first slot and saw a crowd similar in strength in each of the rest 13 slots over the next five days, till the 7th of August 2024. The college welcomed the newcomers through a session that was an hour and a half long; depicting all the limitless possibilities that the college provides for these young talents. The young inquisitive minds experienced their first day in college, i.e., Orientation Day with the theme of “Purple Patch” this year. The Orientation Programme went on for five days which included the 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 6th and 7th August 2024, and took place in the Concept Hall of the college. All 14 slots were divided to accommodate students from the disciplines of Commerce (Morning), Commerce (Afternoon and Evening), Arts, Science, and Business Administration (BBA). The hall and the corridors were all decked up in purple decorations to welcome the neophytes into a new chapter of their lives.
Each slot began with displaying the College Film on screen. This film described every activity and aspect of college life in BESC and was followed by teaching the newbies the famous college cry which serves as a visa to be a member of the BESC family. “HEY BESC! WHAT’S UP?” seems to be an emotion to all the BE-ITES and passing this tradition on to the upcoming generation was an important segment of the Orientation. BESC is not just an institution restricted to classrooms but a medium that identifies talents and gives a stage to the well-deserved. Therefore, students were introduced to the 18 Collectives which the college provides, where one can showcase their talents in their respective fields. All the Collectives which included Assembly Of Nations (AON), Bhawanipur Entrepreneurship & Startup Training (BEST), Bull’s Eye, Eco For Be-ites, Vox Populi, Art in Me (AIM), Expressions, Crescendo, Flames, Enact, Fashionista, Celluloid, SETU, Power Hour, Quizzard, Students Share Skill (SSS), NSS and NCC, with the addition of a new Club known as the Book Reading Club were introduced to the students by the Representatives of the respective collectives. Following this, the Rector and Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Dilip Shah shared his words of wisdom with the students of each slot, where he advised them to not lose determination and learn the art of balancing in life. In his words, “You can convert your passion into a profession in that one place, that is Bhawanipur.”
Next in line was the introduction of the Career Connect Courses, where passion meets profession! Courses like Digital Marketing, GK Booster, MS Office, Google Workspace, Tally, Working with GST, Dynamics of Capital Market, Quest for Quants, ACCA and Corporate Communication were introduced, with many of these courses being fully refundable. Prof. Minakshi Chaturvedi, Co-Ordinator of the Department of Commerce (Morning), provided detailed information on a variety of topics such as the Career Connect courses, the new NEP syllabus, the dress code, norms, disciplinary rules of the college, the importance of having decent attendance in classes and the workings of the Placement Cell of BESC which is adept at providing internship and job opportunities to all its students.
Towards the end of each slot, a performance by any one of the Collectives of Flames, Enact, Crescendo, or Fashionista Collectives set the stage on fire with their dazzling performances and amazed the audience. The curtains closed on each Orientation event with the song “My Way” by Frank Sinatra sung by Boman Irani at the request of Prof. Shah during the Graduation Felicitation Ceremony of BESC being played in the background. As they vacated the hall, students were escorted by the volunteers and were taken on a college tour where they were introduced to the major areas of the college like the Library, Sports Arena, and the College Canteen. A selfie zone was also arranged where the excited newcomers could take selfies and keep them as a memory while they go forward in this journey of their lives.
By 5:30 P.M. on the 7th of October 2024, the BESC Orientations came to an end with more than 2,500 students successfully completing their first step of the Bhawanipur Journey!
