On 06 may 2024, the Bengali department, on behalf of arts section of The Bhawanipur Education Society College organized 164th birth celebration of Rabindrnath Tagore or Rabindra Jayanti in Jubilee Hall with various cultural programs. The program started at around 11:30 am and continued till 4:30pm. After the inauguration of the program with a Tagore song and lightening of the lamp, Teacher-in-charge Dr. Subhabrata Gangopadhyay, Dean Prof. Dilip Shah, Vice-principal of Arts Mrs. Debjani Ganguly, IQAC coordinator of college Mr. Tathagata Sen encouraged audience with their insightful speeches on Rabindranath Tagore and the significance of celebrating Rabindra Jayanti. After that other performance such as songs, recitations, short plays dedicated to Tagore followed as well. On this day, Madhubani Chattopadhyay, a renowned dancer was invited as special guest to give a performance-based speech on the celebration of centenary of Rakta Karabi, a popular play of Tagore. She performed a short part of the said play and audiences were enchanted by her performance. IQAC coordinator and professor of Engish department Mr Tathagata Sen directed two short parts of plays by the students. Students themselves also directed short plays of their own composition regarding Tagore and celebration of this day, which was highly praised by audiences. Not only the students from various departments, but also faculties from Arts, Science, and Commerce participated willingly and performed for this auspicious day. Total 45 teachers and 65 students gathered in Jubilee Hall for this program which made the day a success. The entire program was efficiently anchored by Dr. Kasturi Mukherjee and vote of thanks was given by Dr. Mili Samaddar at the end of the program.
Physics department arranged an invited talk in collaboration with IQAC and seminar/FDP/Workshop Committee which was delivered by Dr. Upendranath Nandi, Associate Professor, Department of Physics, Scottish Church College, Kolkata.
