Enact Collective held a 3 day workshop on short film making with the famous director Mr. Debashish Sen Sharma. The workshop was on the 7th -8th of September and was followed by a Competition on Script Writing, Shots and Camera movements, Basic principles of Film Making and Live Shoot on the 15th of September 2015. A huge number of students showed active participation for all the three days.
DAY 1 – 7TH OF SEPTEMBER 2015
The first day of the workshop focused more on the introduction of film making. Various aspects of film making were discussed .Shooting the movie and dealing with the camera was the centre of attraction for the students. Various other topics like script writing and importance of story were also discussed.
DAY 2- 8TH OF SEPTEMBER 2015
The second day of the workshop focused more on pictures and various aspects of pictures. The mentor shared his personal experiences with the students when he waited for two days in a forest to click a perfect picture of a deer. Pictures clicked by students were analysed. Various photographic and film making terms were discussed to brief the students. Importance of “story” behind each image was discussed. Students were briefed on the magnification of lens while clicking pictures. Further an interactive session took place where Mr. Debashish cleared the doubts and answered questions put up by the inquisitive audience. 35 students were divided into 7 teams. Each team was asked to show a short film on the final day. The topic given was “LIVE LIFE KING SIZE”.
DAY 3-15TH OF SEPTEMBER 2015
The third day and the final day was the competition for the participants for the film review . Each group showed a movie made by them and the movie was analysed by Mr.Debashish. The students learnt the various aspects of film making and importance of story by this venture. All the seven movies made by the students were reviewed. Students came with interesting concepts relating to the topic. The winning team , i.e., team 7 showed an excellent silent movie which potrayed the features of a king evaluating his qualities on the the basis of his behaviour and character . The film was excellently shot and edited.
The workshop ended on a positive note where the unity and team work impressed the director .
