The Department of Political Science organized a Prize Distribution Ceremony on December 14, 2023 in Room Number 530 for the students of Semester III, to recognise their achievements in all types of academic and disciplinary activities during the semester. This ceremony is based upon the various Academic and Disciplinary measures introduced by the Department for the overall development of the students, not only in academics but in various other fields.
The proceedings of the prize distribution ceremony were conducted by Amala Dhandhania, Associate Professor, Department of Political Science. She explained the parameters of the Academic and Disciplinary Measures on which the students were judged and awarded. She also mentioned how this endeavour has been successful in creating an environment of discipline and a zeal for learning and she believes that this in turn will motivate the students to perform better in future.
The following prizes and recognitions were given out:
a. The highest Class Attendance (based on all four Honours papers of CC5, CC6, CC7, SEC) which was won by Purav Shah;
b. The prize for Best Performer in Continuous Internal Assessment was won by Manu Kumar Gupta;
c. The prize for Best Daily Individual Class Performance was jointly won by Pratyay Basu and Manu Kumar Gupta;
d. The Best Paper Presentation in Students’ Seminar was jointly won by Group A (represented by Manu Kumar Gupta, Prince Mishra and Ritwika Dutta) and Group F (represented by Sanam Iqbal, Najma Parveen, Madhupriya Sengupta and Ankita Mondal);
e. The appreciation prize for Extra-curricular activity was won by Purav Shah;
f. The prizes for the Highest and Second Highest Score in the University of Calcutta BA Semester II Honours in Political Science, 2023: Manu Kumar Gupta with an SGPA of 8.138 and Sudeshna Jha with an SGPA of 7.465, respectively;
g. The Best Group (students are divided into six groups), which is a prize decided on the basis of various parameters which include the Percentage of Attendance in Continuous Internal Assessments, Continuous Internal Evaluations, Mentoring, Doubt-Clearing sessions, Student’s Seminar and Assignment Submissions. This prize was won by Group A led by the Group Representative, Pratyay Basu
