Consistent with the current situation, most of the companies have frozen the hiring process altogether. But in these dark clouds, there is a silver lining. There are still many companies out there that are recruiting new talent in a bid to prevent an economic slowdown. The option of conducting face-to-face interviews is off the table. To counter this problem, the companies have resorted to conducting online job interviews for interested candidates. By utilizing technologies like video conferencing that have long existed, but less frequently used in the hiring process, the recruiters are able to hire talent whilst saving time and money – both for the employer and the candidate.
Acing an online job interview has always been a bit of an enigma for the candidates. On one hand, it takes off the nerves from the equation that one has to deal with in a face-to-face interview, but on the other hand, it also puts limitations on the candidates to efficiently showcase the skills that would make them a valuable asset. Here are some tips that can help you ace an online job interview, The Bhawanipur College conducted a webinar on “How to crack online interviews”.
The webinar was conducted by our faculty, Prof. Urvi Shukla. The motive of the webinar was to prepare students to crack Online interview by instilling confidence, having the right attitude, mental, physical, and technological preparation to be done prior to the interview. The webinar enlightened the students with varied nonverbal techniques that can impress an interviewer like keeping a pleasant smile, maintaining eye contact, showing interest by nodding your head, and being confident. There were a set of common questions that were also discussed, like how to introduce yourself in 60 seconds, what questions they can ask the interviewer, what strengths and weaknesses to be said when asked, and how to respond to the questions whose answers are unknown.
These things seem awfully simple, yet we often forget to take these necessary precautions and because of minor errors, end up blowing our chances at a glorious future. If we prepare well and present well, we’ll ace it!
Overall, it was a very informative session which gave students an experiential learning about cracking an online interview.
