These are tough times and all of us find ourselves in dire straits. Ever since the coronavirus has struck us, everything has gone for a toss and has taken a toll on our health- both mentally and physically. With all this going on around us, The Bhawanipur Education Society College took the initiative of organizing a webinar on ‘How to Overcome Anxiety and Depression’ on 25th May 2021 from 04:00pm onwards. Mrs. Salony Priya, Director of Ummeed Foundation, a positive psychologist, therapist and life coach was the key speaker of the session. The other speakers who were present in the webinar were Ms. Trina Guha Thakurta, Ms. Pinki Banerjee and Ms. Nikita Jalan. The event was inaugurated by Prof. Dilip Shah.
The month of May is observed as the Mental Health Awareness Month to raise awareness about mental health and to normalize the various social stigmas surrounding it. The webinar was extremely helpful as it helped the students connect with their concerns and differentiate between anxiety and depression and also helped in overcoming the same. The speaker explained the various causes and types of depression and why it is very critical to accept and seek professional help if needed. Overall, the event was extremely beneficial as we are all in midst of a pandemic and need to prioritize our mental health and well-being over every other thing. We need to identify what keeps us optimistic and moving.
