The Bhawanipur Education Society College hosted an electrifying Intra College Athletic Meet at the Gitanjali Stadium, Kolkata starting at 9.30 am and spanning till 5:00 pm. The day commenced with a spirited walk around Gitanjali Stadium led by the NCC unit of the college. The event was initiated by the lighting of the Mashaal by members of the Management of the college, including President, Shri Rajnikant Dani, Dr. Suman Mukerjee, Director General of The BESC, Rector & Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Dilip Shah, Mr. Jitendra Shah, Mr. Umesh Thakkar, Prof. Minakshi Chaturvedi, Coordinator B.com (Morning), Sports In-charge, Mr. Rupesh Gandhi and Mr. Bhavin Parmar. Followed by the inaugural, March past by the NCC unit was witnessed, followed by students of different collectives of the college, bearing the flags along with their members walking behind. The audience witnessed a burst into a vibrant dance performance by The Bhawanipur dance collective, Flames who set the tone for an action-packed day. The lineup featured a spectrum of athletic contests.
The events lined up for the Athletic Meet were Track events like 100m, 200m, 400m, and Relay Races. A staggering turnout showcased the college’s athletic prowess, with impressive participation from both boys and girls. The other set of Field events that were a part of Urja 2023 were the Javelin Throw, Shot Put, and Discus Throw: The field events witnessed dedicated participation, showcasing absolutely fit participants, who turned out to be talented athletes. Amidst the events, a 100 m race was also conducted for the Teaching staff of the college and Mr. Chandan Jha, from B.com (Morning) won the race.
Danesh F Tarpore and Shabari Dad, the students at the college were hailed as Best Athlete (Male) & Best Athlete (Female), Urja 2023, embodying the spirit of the event. Behind the scenes, a dedicated team of eight referees, the sports arena members, 52 volunteers for Urja, and the meticulous guidance of the Sports In-charge ensured the smooth sailing of the event. Notably, the Relay Race embraced a balanced ratio of boys to girls, promoting teamwork and unity, and was one of the most thrilling events.
The culmination of the event was a moment of recognition and celebration as all winners were honored with certificates and medals by the management. To cap off the day, the crowd was treated to a lively performance by the guest band, Retro Cats, whose lead singer, Mr. Saurav Goswami wrapped up the event with a delightful musical finale. The Intra College Athletic Meet 2023 was a testament to The Bhawanipur Education Society College’s commitment to fostering sportsmanship, unity, and holistic development among its students.
