Special lectures are part and parcel of all academic activity in college. It is a wonderful opportunity for students to hear and interact with resource persons from other institutions. Dr. Debnita Chakravarti, Associate Professor of Srishikshayatan College gave a special lecture for the postgraduate Sem III students on Michael Palin’s Sahara, A Travelogue which is a new addition to the postgraduate syllabus. In this lecture, Dr. Chakravarti gave a very comprehensive overview of the text. She started by alluding to travelogues and talked at length on the text, the diverse cultures and landscapes that Palin covered on his journey across the desert which took him through nine countries. She also touched upon the major themes of the text all the while interacting with the students. This lecture was conducted through G-Suite and was recorded.
