‘The bad news is time flies. The good news is you’re the pilot.’
Time management is the process of planning and exercising conscious control over the amount of time spent on specific activities – especially to increase effectiveness, efficiency or productivity. But we hardly consider it to be integral, don’t we? This and this together is the reason why The Bhawanipur College organised a seminar on Time Management for its students on July 26, 2017 ,at Concept Hall.
The seminar was taken over by Susan Nakayama Siaw, PhD in Psychology and Sociology from Polytechnic University, California and one of her students,Dustin Stephen. The beginning of the seminar was marked by a beautiful song, ‘Traffic’ which was sung by one of Ms.Siaw’s own students who performed in the form of an incredible singer from California. This was done to capture the attention of the crowd and to fill them with positivity. As the seminarpreceded the chief guests, Miss. Siaw taught the students about THE SEVEN HABITS OF EFFCTIVE PEOPLE by these she stated a stat of a US student as to how much time they give to their studies, games, sleep etc. In between the seminar a task was given to the students asking“IF YOU HAD ONLY ONE MONTH TO LIVE STARTING RIGHT NOW, WHAT WOULD YOU DO IN THAT ONE MONTH”. By saying these she gave a report of two of her students; one of the report stated that :- “I want to live my life as I am living…” In the end she just said that while distributing time give some good amount of time to sleep because “Health is wealth”.
The discussion highlighted upon the importance of Time Management and ways to manage them exemplifying the best practices for prioritizing task, overcoming procrastination, improving your concentrationand dealing with frequent distractions.
Ms.Siaw’s insights underscored the success to the Seminar. Our Dean of student affairs, Prof. Dilip Shah came forth to conclude the event by addressing the students and felicitating the Guests.
