The Language we speak to communicate our ideas and express our emotions, shapes our culture and personality thereby becoming an important aspect of our identity and existence. On the eve of the International Mother Language Day, the dept. of Bengali and the IQAC of The Bhawanipur Education Society College took a great initiative this year to celebrate the occasion on 21st February, 2024. The enthusiasm and effort shown by the students from various departments contributed to the success of the programme. There were almost 58 participants (33 Students and 26 Teachers) overall who were the life of the event. The respected Professors including the Dean – Shri Dilip Shah, the Vice Principal – Dr. Debjani Ganguly, the Teacher –in – charge – Dr. Subharata Ganguly and IQAC Coordinator(Joint) – Dr. Tathagata Sen were also present to support and encourage the students. Dr. Abha Jha and Dr. Soumya Bhattacharjee expressed some few words on behalf of their mother language Hindi and Bengali.
The purpose of the event was mainly to uphold the significance of the historical struggle behind the famous ‘Bhasha Andolan’ and also to inculcate within us a sense of reverence towards our mother tongue which has enriched our soul. Sri Pralipta Ghosh from Shantiniketan and Sri Durojit Das added more beauty to the day’s event. With an wonderful voice Pralipta Ghosh presented a bouquet of Classical Rabindrasangeet, Nazrul geeti and the most renowned song ‘Ami Banglay gran Gai’. The day drew to an end with a drama – by the students of the college drama troupe –Antarjaal.
The entire celebration was a tribute to those valiant souls who fought till their last breath to claim their right over their mother tongue. We hope that in the near future, we can come together and participate in such a grand celebration celebrating the glory of our mother tongue – the language that defines who we are.
