November 15th, 2019.Placement Hall. The NCC contingent of The Bhawanipur Education Society College (BESC) is one of the strongest amongst such units and has not only held the banner of the NCC high, but has admirably performed under trying circumstances in fulfilling the duties assigned to it. Naturally morale is extremely high among the cadets and officers assigned to lead the unit has always forged a special bond with the BE-ites.
It was no surprise that when havildar Samir Gurung the NCO of 31 Bengal Battalion, hailing from 315 Gorkha Regiment had to move on, the far4ewell ceremony would be an emotionally charged one.
Prof Dilip Shah, the Dean of student affairs of the BESC was personally present on the occasion and saluted the way havildar Gurung has nurtured the BESC unit, taking special care to forge them into a force to reckon with. He wished the parting officer, in the best traditions of civilian niceties, God speed and God bless, promising on behalf of the students to continue nurturing the seeds planted by havildar Gurung and others so that the tree may reach its fruition in the fullness of time.
In his farewell speech, Havildar Gurung recalled with happiness and pride the way that the young members of the fledgling BESC NCC unit have stuck to the tasks, improving on a daily basis, only to turn it into a habit.
He reiterated the commitment to the motherland and urged more and more students to make serving the country by joining the armed forces into a career option. Havildar Gurung listed out the many benefits that the armed forces offer to young men and women, pointing that all of them, put together does not have the same pleasure as being in a uniform and dedicating one’s self to the service of the Nation.
About forty students were present in the ceremony, some from out of the NCC ranks and havildar Gurung made it a point to address all their queries, especially about the ways and means of joining the armed forces.
