Objective of the event:
To introduce the Group D staff to the basic components and operations of a computer.
To enhance their digital competence for better workplace productivity and communication.
To enable them to use everyday applications like MS Office and email independently.
To familiarize them with safe internet browsing and modern tools like ChatGPT.
Brief description of the event:
To bridge the digital divide and empower the non-teaching staff with essential computer skills, the Department of Computer Science at The Bhawanipur Education Society College organized a 30-hour Computer Literacy Program exclusively for the Group D staff members. The training sessions were conducted over ten selected days between June and December 2024, with active participation and enthusiasm from the attendees.
The first 18 hours of the program were conducted by Mr. Utsab Mukherjee and Mr. Akash Mehta, esteemed faculty members from the Department of Computer Science. The remaining 12 hours were taken by Ms. Khadijah Ahmed, an alumnus of the department, who brought a practical and relatable approach to the sessions.

Participants were trained in:
Basic computer operations including turning on and shutting down systems.
Using MS Paint for basic graphic interaction.
Creating and editing documents in MS Word.
Performing data entry and calculations in MS Excel.
Making presentations with MS PowerPoint.
Web browsing, downloading files, and printing documents.
Setting up and using email for communication.
Introduction to ChatGPT and its applications for assistance and learning.
The program was met with positive feedback from the participants, many of whom expressed increased confidence in using computers in their daily tasks. The initiative reflects the college’s commitment to inclusive development and digital literacy for all members of its academic community.
With 130 teams, and number of participants exceeding 700, the most awaited event BPLT 2020 continued for 6 quick days. The inauguration on 15th February, 2020 was marked with a cheerful and high-spirited speech from Prof. Dilip Shah. His speech boosted the confidence of the participants.
