On 10th June 2023, The Bhawanipur Education Society College organized a Ghazal Evening as a tribute to the famous poet, lyricist, and gazalkar Late. Majrooh Sultanpuri. The hall decoration was aesthetically in sync with the traditional ghazal setup with bright jhoomers and fairy lights. Everyone was seated in a circle on mattresses with legs tucked back in Vajrasana. The programme began with Prof. Dr. Vasundhara Mishra introducing the theme and guests for the evening, and the address by Prof. Dilip Shah, Dean of Student Affairs.
The Guests for the evening, Sri Hridaya Narayan Singh Abhigyat, Palash Chaturvedi, and Zahid Hussain not only mesmerized everyone with their performances but also gave tips on how to improve on writing Ghazals and Shayri. To lighten the mood and follow the tradition of mehfil, Roo Afzah garnished with rose petals was served. Singer and Gazal writer Swati Vardhan added to the charm of the evening with her beautiful voice and gazal pieces. Students of the college, Ujjwal Karamchandani, Ravi Singh, Anjali Agarwal, Namrata Choudhury, PratyushTiwari, Muskan Kothari, Arpita Biswas, Devang Nagar, and other students presented Shayri, songs, and self-written poems.
Faculty members Dr. Vasundhara Mishra and Mr. Sourav Goswami captivated the audience with their beautiful performances. The evening concluded with Prof Dilip Shah’s vote of thanks and the event ended on a vibrant note when everyone participated in an enthralling medley.
