Great opportunities seldom come without us seeking them but such a rarity did become a reality when our College Dean, Prof. Dilip Shah decided upon allowing a seminar on ‘Goods and Services Tax’in our college on August 29, 2016. The event took place in the Concept Hall of the college open to all.
Goods and Services Tax (GST) is a value added tax, levied at all points in the supply chain with credit allowed for any tax paid on inputs acquired for use in making the supply. It would apply to both goods and services in a comprehensive manner with exemptions restricted to a minimum.
Therefore, in order to inculcate the knowledge of GST upon our college students and to welcome the policy of GST in our country was the main reason for an organization of such a seminar.
The event began with a welcome speech by the student volunteer and the event organizer Kalicharan Shaw. Followed by Prof. Dilip Shah who spoke about GST defining its importance to the students. Followed by this, the Chief guests were called up on stage one after the other. Each in turn described the concept of GST to the audience. The chief guests of the evening were Dr. Ajay Pathak ,Mr. T.B. Chatterjee, Mr AnkitKanoria and Mr. AnkitPatwari.
Towards the end of the seminar a memento was gifted to each of the chief Guests.
The seminar was undoubtedly useful and interesting too.
