The Department of Bengali, in collaboration with NSS, organised a cultural outreach programme at Calcutta Blind School, Behala, to observe Bhasa Dibosh (International Mother Language Day) in a meaningful and interactive manner.
The programme commenced with a brief introduction highlighting the significance of International Mother Language Day and emphasising the importance of preserving and nurturing one’s mother tongue. Faculty members delivered short speeches and participated in recitations, reflecting on the cultural and emotional value of language in shaping identity and heritage.
The student volunteers presented recitations, songs, and dance performances, specially prepared for the occasion. To encourage active participation, a recitation competition and a singing competition were organised for the students of Calcutta Blind School. The students participated with remarkable enthusiasm, confidence, and joy, making the event vibrant and engaging.
The programme fostered a warm, inclusive, and celebratory atmosphere, where language became a medium of connection and shared cultural expression. The wholehearted participation of the students made the event both meaningful and memorable.
A total of 5 teachers and 12 students from the Department accompanied the programme.
