Objective: The primary objective of the seminar was to encourage students to apply their technical knowledge to real-life problems and showcase innovative solutions. The seminar also sought to promote creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities among students, motivating them to engage in practical, research-oriented activities within the field of Computer Science.
Brief Description: The seminar, held in Room 422 at 11:00 AM, commenced with an introduction by one of the convenors, Ms. Anamika Guha. This was followed by an outstanding presentation by Mr. Krishna Jain, a Semester 5 student of the department. Krishna presented an impressive and innovative application that he had developed after thoroughly studying the issues students commonly face in the college canteen. He identified key challenges – most notably the long waiting times, crowd management, and the absence of a streamlined system for placing and tracking orders. During his presentation, Krishna clearly explained how his solution addresses these problems by offering a more organized, user-friendly, and time-saving process for both students and canteen staff. His ability to break down the problem, propose a practical technological remedy, and demonstrate its real-world usefulness earned him widespread appreciation. The clarity of his explanation, the creativity behind the design, and the strong relevance of the app to everyday campus life made his presentation stand out as an excellent example of how technology can effectively improve institutional operations.
Dr. Suchandra Chakraborty, the coordinator of the Peer-Student Committee was present as well, motivating the students and encouraging them to pursue more such impactful projects.
Outcome: The seminar concluded on a positive and inspiring note. Krishna’s remarkable presentation earned him a certificate and a gift as a token of appreciation for his efforts and contribution. His work encouraged peers to think innovatively and consider developing similar student-driven solutions. Faculty members acknowledged the importance of such initiatives in fostering technological growth and creativity within the department.
The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Mr. Sanjib Halder, the seniormost faculty member of the department, who appreciated the collective effort of the organizers, the enthusiasm of the participants, and the innovative spirit of the presenter. The event was finally concluded with an inspiring and motivating note by Dr. Pinki Saha Sardar, Vice Principal (Science), who emphasized the need for continuous innovation and exploration in the field of Computer Science.
