“The journey of a thousand miles begins with a small step.”

The Earth revolved once again, and we celebrated it with the new batch and their arrival, marking the start of the mission “Orientation.” Over four days and thirteen slots, the young students were invited to experience the ambience of The Bhawanipur Education Society College and witness its recurring accomplishments. While we bid adieu with heavy hearts to our graduating class of 2025, we also welcomed the arrival of our new batch of freshers with open arms, marking a full circle in life. Spanning morning to evening, the four-day programme was conducted on July 28th, 29th, 30th, and 31st, 2025, in the Jubilee Hall and Concept Hall of the college campus. All thirteen slots were divided to accommodate students from the disciplines of Commerce (Morning, Afternoon, and Evening), Humanities, Science, and Business Administration (BBA). The college gate, corridors, turf, and every corner of the campus were decorated with balloons, warmly welcoming the new students.
As the students bid goodbye to their school days and prepared to begin their college journey, we chose “CTRL + N” as the theme for Orientation 2025. “CTRL+N,” a keyboard shortcut used to create a new document or window—a new workspace in an application—symbolises new beginnings in the lives of the new BE-ites, intended to mark the start of an exciting four-year journey filled with assignments, deadlines, and countless happy memories. Each slot had an audience of more than 200, with a visible blend of excitement and nervousness on their faces.
The Orientation Programme began on July 28, 2025, at 2:30 P.M., with all slots kicking off with the College AV, which offered a glimpse into college life at BESC. The freshers were introduced to the college ritual, “Hey BESC! What’s Up?”—our famous cry to make the newbies true BE-ites. Following this, the one who stands as the voice of reason and pillar of support for the college, our Rector and Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Dilip Shah, made a lively entry, delivering an inspiring speech about the college. He conveyed that the college has a place for every student and every passion, emphasising that BESC is special, as every corner of the campus is filled with learning—through friends, teachers, the turf, the canteen, and the numerous collectives offered by the college. That is why he rightly referred to the collectives as co-curricular and not extracurricular.
In his words, “You can convert your passion into a profession in that one place, that is Bhawanipur.” He spoke about the 200+ events that pepper the college calendar in just 182 working days, highlighting the need for modern, leverage-building skills in today’s economy. He also introduced the availability of Career Counselling as well as Emotional Counselling on the college premises by professionals. In a moment of lightheartedness, he compared the newbies to caterpillars, just born and soon to be cocooned in their four long college years, before emerging as butterflies. He wished the students the very best before leaving the stage.
Next in line, A.V.s for the various College Collectives were rolled, interspersed with Representatives of the respective Collectives coming up on stage to introduce their Collective and explain why students should join them. It is a matter of pride that the college now has twenty collectives, including Assembly of Nations (AON), Bhawanipur Entrepreneurship & Startup Training (BEST), Bull’s Eye, Eco For Be-ites, Vox Populi, Art in Me (AIM), Expressions, Crescendo, Flames, Enact, Fashionista, Celluloid, SETU, Power Hour, Quizzard, Students Share Skill (SSS), NSS, NCC, and Book Reading Club, with the addition of a new collective—Pixel Pioneers.
Following this, Vice-Principal, Department of Commerce (Morning), Prof. Minakshi Chaturvedi, took the stage and enlightened the young minds about the Career Connect Courses – “Where passion meets profession” – run by the college exclusively for its students, enriching their CVs by teaching industry-relevant skills. This unique initiative of BESC makes it stand out from all others. Courses like Digital Marketing, Public Speaking, GK Booster, MS Office, Google Workspace, Tally Prime, Content Writing and Blogging, Working with GST, Dynamics of Capital Market, Introduction to Python and Database Edition, ACCA, and CA Foundation were introduced, with many being fully refundable. Prof. Chaturvedi also introduced a new course, Everyday Essentials for Empowerment, which teaches basic life skills to students. She further elaborated on rules and regulations, norms, dress code, and decorum, as well as the work of the Placement Cell of BESC, which provides internships and job opportunities to students.
Towards the end of each slot, one of the Collectives—Flames, Enact, Crescendo, or Fashionista—took the stage and dazzled the audience with stellar performances. The students were then escorted by volunteers on a guided college tour, College Brahman, where they were introduced to the major areas of the college, such as the Library, Sports Arena, and Canteen. A selfie zone was also arranged, where the excited newcomers could capture their first memories of college life.
By 7:00 P.M. on 31st July 2025, the BESC Orientation successfully concluded, with the new BE-ites completing their very first step of the Bhawanipur journey!
