Objective of the event: The Internal Complaints Committee of The Bhawanipur Education Society College organized a special lecture on “Gender Bias and Stereotypes in Indian Workplace” to raise awareness about the pervasive issues affecting women’s careers.
Brief description of the event: The program commenced with a symbolic gesture of watering a plant, representing environmental awareness and sustainability. Professor Ghosh in her lecture highlighted the various forms of gender bias and stereotypes prevalent in Indian workplaces, including discriminatory hiring practices, unequal pay, and limited opportunities for career advancement. The speaker emphasized the importance of creating a safe and inclusive work environment, free from harassment and biases. The session encouraged participants to reflect on their own biases and roles in promoting gender equality. It also provided insights into strategies for addressing and overcoming these challenges, such as policy reforms, training programs, and awareness initiatives.
