Objective of the Activity: To promote inclusive education and extend academic and moral support to visually challenged students through meaningful interaction and donation of educational resources.
Brief Description of the Activity: The Department of Mathematics of The Bhawanipur Education Society College, in collaboration with the NSS Unit and with IQAC approval, organized a social outreach visit to the Ramakrishna Mission Blind Boys’ Academy, Narendrapur on 3rd May 2025. This initiative aimed to foster academic inclusivity and social responsibility among college students while supporting the educational journey of visually impaired students.
A group of 18 students from the department, accompanied by 5 faculty members and 2 non-teaching staff, actively participated in the visit. The team engaged with students from classes VIII, IX, and X, encouraging them through empathetic interaction. As part of the outreach, the department donated talking calculators, stylus and writing tools, magnifying glasses, and school backpacks. Food items were also distributed as a gesture of warmth and solidarity.
Outcome of the Activity: The outreach was both enriching and impactful. It provided participants with a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by visually impaired students, reinforcing the importance of inclusive educational practices. The activity fostered a sense of community engagement, empathy, and civic responsibility among the college students. The Department of Mathematics and the NSS Unit reaffirm their commitment to continuing such socially responsive initiatives in the future.
