The Economics Department of the Science Section of the Bhawanipur Education Society College organized an Inter-Semester Peer Student Presentation Competition on 4th October 2024. The competition started at 3 pm and was attended by the students of Economics across all semesters. There were Four participating groups of three students from each semester, 1, 3, and 5, respectively. The groups were free to choose the topic they would have liked to present. Each group was given 12 minutes to present, and 3 minutes were dedicated to a quick Q&A Round where the judges asked the participants questions on the topic of the presentation.
Group A researched how “International trade not only benefits countries economically but also creates a cultural exchange of ideas and knowledge sharing”. It was titled “Beyond Borders” and presented by Priyanka Bardia, Suhana Singh and Aadya Arora. The examples of food items which have been important mediums of not only trade and economy but also the cultural and food habits of people were a highlight. Group B made their presentation on how the ”Government should reserve some sectors for itself, or it should encourage private competition to introduce efficiency through incentives”. Abhishek Shaw, Anushree Maheshwari, and Suhana Singh’s heavily researched comparison impressed all. Group C, whose members were Sakshi Sodani, Amreen Ara and Syed Kashish, based their presentation on ”Impact of Artificial Intelligence on labor market of developing countries like India”. They focused on both the positive and the negative aspects of the impact and also provided certain solutions for the cons. Group D presented on the topic ”Competition is good/bad for traditional societies like India”. Varun Vora, Utkarsh Chaturvedi and Madhusa Bhattacharya were the team members whose presentation skills left a mark on all.
The Judges had a tough time deciding the winners as every presentation was no less than the other one. The First position went to Group A, while Group B was placed Second. Group C, too, was a close winner, while Group D was the audience favorite. However, the event was beneficial for all as everyone, participants and audience, likewise, got to learn something new.
