During Navratri, Goddess Durga, riding a lion, is celebrated pan India as a symbol of divine strength and as a powerful embodiment of feminine energy. Reminiscing the same, The Bhawanipur Education Society College curated ‘Dhamaal 2023’, a potpourri of cultural extravaganza in the College Turf on 13th October 2023 from 5:30 pm onwards. .”Dhamaal” proved to be a vibrant and culturally rich event that served as a heartwarming tribute to Goddess Durga. This event beautifully wove together the cultural threads of both Bengali and Gujarati traditions through the spirited celebration of Dhunuchi dance Dandiya & Garba.
The evening began with a solemn Aarti offered to the goddess by the college management, faculties, and students thereby setting a spiritual tone. Following the Aarti, about 27 students from Flames Collective performed the ‘Dhunuchi Dance’ choreographed by Ms. Sanchaita Munshi in traditional Bengali attire, paying a heartfelt tribute to ‘Maa Durga’. The cultural festivities continued with around 22 Gujarati students of the first year taking the stage for their performance which was choreographed by Mr. Dharmesh, adding a touch of diversity and richness to the celebration.
Following the performances, an open garba ground and dandiya rounds were organized. The crowd was massive, and the Turf and the passages were brimming with colors of festivities. The surrounding areas of the Turf were filled with enthusiastic students dancing to the beats of traditional folk songs sung by Ms. Poonam Jani, Alpesh Dave & Mr. Manish Dave, along with their talented team, singing melodious Dandiya and Garba Numbers!
To accommodate everyone, an hour-long DJ round with Mr. Dhruv Bhatia was held with an engaging crowd! Approximately 900 people were present, all adorned in colorful traditional attire. The premises were adorned with vibrant ribbons, glitters, and a selfie point.
